I took up writing reading and failing at my studies and my friendships

They said I could and then I went to work as a serving man
But it did not last forever, and my money slowly shrank
And in the winter of that year I wrote for money and a name
And I felt like I was doing something worthwhile again
Though it paid a pittance I felt good about myself
But my words did not come fast enough and the job was on the shelf
